Waste Oil is defined as virgin oil that is discarded before use. * All samples, unless specifically noted, should use an EPA approved method or equivalent. ** Based on size & stability of plume, occurrence of natural biodegradation, aquifer characterization & risk assessment. Cleanup goals are related to MN Dept. of Health's Health Risk Limits for drinking water. *** In most cases, Action and Cleanup levels in groundwater are based on VOC levels. * All samples, unless specifically noted, should use an EPA approved method or equivalent. ** Soil Vapor headspace analysis ≥40ppm. *** Visual evidence of contamination or soil vapor headspace ≥10ppm. **** For a sandy site, an additional investigation is needed if: 1) field PID screening levels in the remaining soil is greater than 40 ppm for a gasoline release, or greater than 10 ppm or visible contamination for a diesel or fuel oil release; or 2) the analytical result of the excavation base or sidewall soil sample is greater 50 mg/kg GRO/DRO; or 3) the analytical result of the excavation base or sidewall soil sample is less than 50 mg/kg GRO/DRO but ground water is within 25 feet of the surface. For a silt or clay site, an additional investigation is needed if: 1) field PID screening levels in the remaining soil is greater than 40 ppm for a gasoline release, or greater than 10 ppm or visible contamination for a diesel or fuel oil release; or 2) the analytical result of the excavation base or sidewall soil sample is greater 100 mg/kg GRO/DRO.
