Nelson Central School Week l y N e ws l ett er
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa te whanau whanui o te Kura Tuatahi o Whakatu – greetings to friends and family of Nelson Central School. At the end of the year we will also be saying goodbye to Lesley Kotua. After 50 years of teaching she is going to enjoy retirement! We will have a special item on the final assembly programme when we will say farewell to Lesley and a small presentation will be made to her. If there are any other farewell gifts for Lesley that would be a good time to present them.
Safety First Police and Councils are concerned about the number of cyclists riding on the footpath around Nelson. Records show crashes have occurred between cyclists and cars entering and exiting driveways because cyclists are not legally supposed to be on the footpath and drivers are not expecting them to be. Pedestrians also report near misses with fast moving cyclists on narrow paths. Cyclists are reminded that they can ride on SHARED PATHS – which are signed, but NOT on FOOTPATHS. New staff for 2009 When riding on a shared path, riders should keep left, warn Jane Portman (on maternity leave) has resigned her when approaching from behind and slow down near position as Deputy Principal at the school and that has walkers. triggered a series of changes in the school.
